The BraveHearts Dragon Boat Team was founded by the North Island Dragon Boat Society in 2006 by a group of Breast Cancer Survivors, who realized that all people who had gone through the trials and tribulations of having had ANY type of Cancer could benefit from the rewards brought on by being a member of a dragon boat team. The idea was put into motion and we set out to grow a co-ed membership and obtain our brand new dragon boat. Our community showed us tremendous support for our idea and we had our own boat and a growing membership in no time at all and have garnered the status of being Canada's first co-ed ALL cancers dragon boat team. We hope that other communities will follow our example and extend this opportunity to help all cancer survivors in their own towns.

Busting with Energy™ is the only dragon boat team of breast cancer survivors in Saskatchewan. We are based out of Saskatoon where we train and race on the South Saskatchewan River. There are approximately 40 members, including 17 grandmothers, with ages ranging from 26 to 72. We are a small but mighty team with a lot of spirit and heart. The team has lost 6 paddlers to breast cancer, some have gone through a recurrence, and others have metastatic breast cancer. Busting with Energy™ is involved in fundraising for numerous research and awareness projects, including the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency and Saskatchewan's first Breast Health Centre, which opened in March of 2006 in Saskatoon.

Looking to join a dragon boat team, the Topmade Dragon Boat Club would like to extend you an invitation to the join.

One of our Club mandates is to provide participants an opportunity to compete in the sport of dragon boating at a competitive level they choose (i.e. recreational, semi-competitive or competitive). Over the years, we have grown into a 100+ member Club with a number of different teams competing under the Club.

This year, the Club has registered 6 mixed teams and 2 gender-specific in the Calgary Dragon Boat Festival (August 11th-13th, 2006).
